Kelly’s Week 2

As I mentioned in our initial “welcome” blog for Kelly, she, like Cheryl, started with a diet plan first before I gave her her first resistance training schedule over a week ago. This blog below focuses on her new eating patterns based on my instructions. Given the holiday last week, I asked that she ‘take off’ –not from her newer lifestyle habits – from blogging.

She continues to this point dealing with summer social events and balancing kids’ schedules with her own need to eat more frequently and continue working out. Her blog below is from the last week of June. As you can see already she is making small changes that will amount to long-term success (e.g., preparing meals).

This Friday we will be up to date with where she is as far as her weight is concerned, her successes, her challenges and her training goes.

Kelly’s Blog – Week 2

So, I have said for a long time that my goal is to weigh less than my husband. My husband is a twig – 5’ 8” and less than 140 lbs. He is a very healthy eater and loves to run. I have not been a very healthy eater and I dread running although it is the cardio that is most effective for my weight loss (at least in the past). I still can’t run right now because of the arthritis feeling in my knees (Lymes disease), so I am focusing on biking, boot camp, and weight training.

I had a very good week. I worked out 5 days (on my own – I haven’t started Angela’s workout plan yet) and mowed my one acre lawn with the push mower. I also started on the meal plan that Angela gave me and was able to stick to most of it. I prepared my lunches when I knew I was going to be out. I made very smart choices at restaurants. I started logging my food, which really helps me focus. I have been trying to drink a gallon of water a day…but I fall short in this area a bit.

I have two skinny/fit sister-in-laws that I am going to the beach with in August and I am NOT going to be the fat girl sitting beside them, so although I want to get healthy for the long run….I do have that short term goal. I NEED (not just want) to look good for that trip. Besides, I want to be 40 and fabulous in October too.

This quote is my current motivator: “The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary.” ~Mark Twain
