Kelly’s Week 7

Kelly’s Blog – Week 7

15.7 pounds….means I lost 1.8 pounds on vacation (10 days), while enjoying myself and eating dessert!! But, I did learn a few things about myself. I missed my scale. Yep – I said it. The scal-o-holic missed her scale….but, I missed it because I use it as a tool to keep me on track. Not to mention, knowing I have to check in with Angela and the blog also keeps me on track. I did eat too many desserts and didn’t feel real great about it (even when I was doing it); however, I just seemed to keep doing it anyway. Don’t get me wrong, it tasted good, but I need to learn to pass sometimes. I do think it is fair to share that I was pretty good with all my other food choices. It is hard when you are out of your regular routine and environment. I felt like I had fallen way off my diet, but obviously not too bad. I do feel like I might go through another sugar detox this week…so watch out family…I may be grumpy!!

I also learned that I am no longer a buffet girl. It has been a while since I went to a buffet anyway, but I do not think I ate my $24.99 worth of food. Although, all I ate was seafood and a small salad anyway (I went for the crab legs and shrimp mostly).

I could not do any weight lifting while I was there, but I did walk 5 days in a row – over 5 miles a day. I also did Pilates twice, along with some band work, lunges, squats, sit ups, and pushups (both tricep and regular). My knee started hurting really bad on Friday after boogie boarding in a very rough ocean. I have had a lot of difficulty walking since then, but usually a few days of rest helps and I keep going. It is very frustrating that this knee pain doesn’t seem to heal or go away (or even knowing what it really is). I am sure I need to stop exercising for a month or more, but I don’t want to, so I feel stuck between my ongoing weight loss journey and this knee pain.

On a more positive note, I watched the Olympics every night and that was very inspiring!! I am only 5 pounds away from the goal of weighing less than Greg. I am 20 pounds away from my end goal, but I have short term goals in between. I am hoping Angela will keep me on a couple extra weeks past my 12, so I can give my final weigh in for this blog on my 40th birthday. My goal between 133-135!! Let’s hope I can get there.

Upon reading Kelly’s blog – I was – in a word….ELATED! I truly didn’t expect her to lose any weight – the best any one of us can do on a vacation is just maintain our weight and be mindful of portions but somehow Kelly’s level of activity must have been enough to counter those sweets! It will be interesting to see if in fact she really did experience a sugar ‘detox’ this past week – I suspect not since she’s been eating clean for over a month now.

I also think it was a healthy coincidence that while she was vacationing – the Summer Olympics were also in the background! How inspiring were so many of those athletes to watch this season?! Aside from mere performance – which was exceptional in so many events – I noticed how absolutely beautiful each athlete appeared…everything from their physique to their skin tone was flawless! And, I’m fairly certain they don’t prescribe to a fast-food and high sugar diet either!

As for Kelly’s subtle request of working with me until her 40th birthday…I think 1) she’ll reach her goal weight (easily) and 2) it will be a piece of cake to continue to work with her…although allowing her to eat that cake will be a different story…lol. Let’s keep at it Kelly…we can say that we have a little more time together!
