Healthy New Year

Hello!  As we bid farewell to another year, we embrace new beginnings in 2013.  January is always an exciting month as we set intentions for the next twelve months.  According to a study completed by the University of Scranton, published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, 45% of Americans usually make New Year’s Resolutions and only 8% are successful in achieving them.  The #1 resolution for 2012 unsuprisingly was to lose weight.  http://www.statisticbrain.com/new-years-resolution-statistics/

We invite you to join us in setting healthy resolutions for 2013.  Here are some quick tips in setting successful New Year’s Resolutions…

  1. Set simple, specific, measurable goals.  If you want to lose weight, how many pounds over the next 12 months?  What weight are you intent on achieving in 2 months?  6 months?
  2. Be realistic.  You’ll only feel frustrated and more self-defeated if you set the bar too high.  Breaking your resolution down in increments over the next 12 months will also help your goal feel more achievable.
  3. Find an accountability partner/friend.  Make a pact with your spouse, significant other, friend, co-worker, or other family member so that you will help one another stay on track.
  4. Use positive self-talk.  “I can do this.”  “I deserve to reach this goal.”  Being your own mental cheerleader will help motivate you to accomplish any resolution you set.

Best wishes and we look forward to hearing from you about your accomplishments this year! :)
