Use It or Lose It

Remember when you were in school and your parents and teachers would tell you “Use it or lose it”? That statement refers to exercising your brain. We must use it every single day, or you will find, one day, over time, that your mental capacity has lessened. Have you ever been good at crossword puzzles, sudoku, or search-a-word games?  Have you ever taken a considerable “vacation” from those mental games, and upon your return, you’re not quite as good?

The same is true for our bodies. In this crazy world we live in, we take on more and more responsibilities, and leave less and less time for ourselves. As we age, things don’t get easier, we don’t have more time, and surely gravity is NOT good to us. Therefore, it is up to us, to learn how to incorporate exercise into our daily lives. Even 15-20 minutes a day will help!

Daily exercise is essential for optimal health. Not only will it help fight gravity’s effects, but it will also strengthen your bones, increase your lung capacity, and increase your endorphins, and much more!  Have you ever seen the movie “Legally Blonde”?  Reese Witherspoon argues that the defendant couldn’t have killed her father because she’s an exercise instructor…and that exercise increases endorphins, endorphins make you happy, and happy people just don’t kill. One of my favorite lines.
